The Ultimate Perth Moving Checklist (Save This Before You Move)

Moving house is one of life's most stressful events — but a good checklist makes it manageable. Here's the one we recommend to every Western Co Transport customer.

6 Weeks Before Moving Day

Set your moving date. Book your removalist — weekends fill up fast, don't leave this late. Start decluttering — sell, donate, or bin anything you don't want to move. Notify your landlord or agent of your move-out date. Begin collecting free boxes from local supermarkets or liquor stores.

4 Weeks Before

Notify Australia Post of your new address. Update your address with your bank, Medicare, ATO, and Centrelink. Contact utilities providers to arrange disconnection and reconnection. Arrange end-of-lease cleaning if required — ask us, we can organise this! Start packing non-essential items (books, seasonal clothing, decorations).

2 Weeks Before

Confirm your booking with your removalist. Pack all rooms except essentials. Label every box clearly — room name and brief contents. Set aside an 'open first' box with essentials (kettle, phone charger, toilet paper, medications). Defrost and clean your fridge and freezer.

1 Week Before

Confirm parking access at both properties for the truck. Disassemble large furniture where possible. Arrange care for pets and young children on moving day. Confirm bond cleaning arrangements.

Moving Day

Be ready when your removalists arrive. Do a final walk-through of every room, cupboard, shelf and drawer. Check the garden, shed, garage, and letterbox. Take photos of meter readings at both properties. Hand back keys to the old property.

When You Arrive
